Sweeter Moments of 2017 Travels

For most beautifully presented, I think Vina Senjković’s entry in my winner. Ice cream, flower petals and I can’t remember what else. A highlight of not only Brac Island, but all of Dalmatia.

The only problem with Kumparička’s ricotta and caramel is that it’s very hard to have any room left in your stomach after being obliterated by their smorgasbord of non sweets.

Cannot be in Slovenia and not have apple strudel. After all the wine we drank at Kmetija Štekar I can’t remember if this was with fresh mint or sage…

First time trying the Boka Tort at Catovica Mlini. Pastry filled with almonds, eggs, flour and maraschino liqueur, topped with caramelized orange juice

Deconstructed cheesecake with fresh berries in Trogir’s Calebotta restaurant. Excellent but I only had a little since I went with the chocolate souffle.

Chocolate cake with crumble meringues (anything with meringues I always fall for) at Kabaj. Went perfect with their Merlot.

First visit to Solta island included this private lunch at Tvrdic Honey for just my guests and I plus honey tasting and an overview of traditional beekeeping was an absolute highlight of my tour season. I’m thinking the cake was carob, delicious whatever was in it.
